Doctor Phibes rises from the self made tomb to discovered his house has been torn down and his map stolen by a known rival.
Phibes reclaims the map from his rival and heads for Egypt both after an unknown tomb and a unknown treasure.
But to win the game Phibes decides to play rough and start doing in with the competition with the perils of the desert
as his murder weapon of choice this go round.
True, it's not as good as the first movie and if they had a better budget would have made a far better movie, I wish they
did make the third movie. It would have been cool, Phibes vs. The Nazis would have been so cool. But alas it was not meant
to be. But this movie is still good for what they could do with it and Vincent was brilliant with what he was given as always.
So all and all, 7 STARS.
I agree with Zedd that is doesn't compare to the first movie, most sequels outshine the first movie. But just because it's
not better then the first movie doesn't mean it's not worth watching. The acting menacing presence of Vincent Price makes
it worth watching alone and it is fun. So, all and all. 7 STARS as well.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ STORY (The story works.)
+ CAST (The cast does do a great job.)
+ FUN (It's fun to watch.)
+ VINCENT PRICE (I wonder if it would have worked with out him?)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- EFFECTS (some of the effects weren't the quality of the first movie.)
- BUDGET (Which they got the budget this movie deserves, it would have been better if they did.)
- FAN BASED (If you aren't a fan and some fans might be disappointed by this one.)
